At Birchwood Church we are blessed with a number of senior adults who have faithfully supported our church since it was founded over 50 years ago. We believe there is a growing opportunity for meaningful ministry to senior adults in our church family.
- People age 65 plus, now number over 35 million representing one out of every 8 Americans:
- The number of older Americans (65+) has increased to 12.4% since 1990 (3.3 million). This number is expected to grow to 20% by 2030.
- In the U.S., 2 million people celebrated their 65th birthday last year... almost 5,500 per day.
- As of July 1983, there are more adults age 65 or older than teenagers in the United States.
- This growing number of senior adults is living longer than ever before. More than two hundred Americans reach age 100 each week.
Senior adults at Birchwood participate in a variety of senior activities:
Joyous Blenders Connection Group - meets every Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. for prayer, fellowship, meaningful Bible study, and small group support.
